Chinatown Center to Host a Two-Day Chinese New Year’s Celebration

Austin, TX, December 20, 2006 — Austin’s newest landmark, the first Chinatown Center in Central Texas, will hold another FREE event to celebrate Chinese New Year’s – Year of the Pig.  The event will be held on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18, 2007.  The public is invited to attend, shop and be entertained.  Activities include a kid’s area, live international entertainment, martial arts demonstration, lion and dragon dance performance and tons of door prize give-aways.  All activities will be free to the public, and all retail stores and restaurants in the Center will be open.  The center is located at 10901 N. Lamar Blvd.

Visitors will find M.T. Supermarket, the largest Central Texas Asian supermarket, a variety of authentic Asian cuisine restaurants, jewelry stores, the Austin Asian American Chamber of Commerce and over 40 other retail shops in the 180,000 square feet of retail space, which was developed by Tan International Group.

If you missed the Grand Opening Celebration in September 2006, Tan International Group gave away more than $20,000 worth of door prizes, including a flat screen TV, digital camcorder and laptop.
